This is a copy of the original 1917 birth certificate from Ahrweiler, that was re-issued in Andernach on July 23, 1945 with a stamped amendment in the right margin. It involves some sort of a name change from Erika to Sara on August 17, 1938, which was probably forced on her by the Nazis. It also appears to change Simon Cahn's name to Israel and Regina Cahn's name to Sara. Since all of this appears in the stamped portion. My understanding is that the Nazis did this to many Jews.
The exact date is: " ...am neunten Juli des Jahres tausend neunhundert und siebzehn nachmittags sechs Uhr .............." (Translation : on the ninth of July 1917 at six o`clock in the afternoon). The document of her birth is from the tenth of July, a day later.
I assume her birthplace was in Ahrweiler for that is where the birth certificate was issued.
